Most of us have no intention of being racist. We do not think ill of people of color. But it is so much easier for us to not look too deeply into the experience of people of color, and how it might be different from ours. Does that make us bad? Of course not! If you’re anything like me, though, it builds stress in me because I don’t know what I should be doing, but would like to be more anti-racist.
There is hope, though. This wonderful article does the work of trying to identify what we might take for granted as white people, things that our neighbors who are black or brown or red or yellow might not have access to. It’s a way to better understand our neighbors, so we can treat them intentionally with the Love that Jesus taught us to treat all people with – love your neighbor as yourself. When we really think about that, it tells us everything. Enjoy these hopeful ideas, and release the stress into God’s hands.
