Thought for Your Week . . .
This past week a group of parishioners and others in our community gathered in front of the Parish House where you may have noticed a new tree has recently been planted. We were there to honor and celebrate Karen Fitzpatrick (one of the founders of Hope for the Journey Home) and her beloved husband, Jim. Longtime parishioners, former parish staff, community activists . . . these two have meant much to this community for a very long time. As they move to a new home in Minneapolis, it won’t be possible for them to be here with us nearly as much as they have been. Because they both have been such an integral part of sheltering so many here at HJH, we thought it appropriate to plant a new tree that as it grows will shelter the Parish House – providing shade, a home for birds and a strong presence here on our grounds. Karen and Jim are great examples of what it means to live lives of meaning and joy. They take the gifts God has given and use them in service to others. So this week, I invite you to reflect on what gift you have that you could cultivate and share to help Guardian Angels blossom and grow. Is there some skill, talent or creativity that you could share more fully with our community? Let us know!
