Pastoral Pearls: Remembering Our Loved Ones

Posted by MaryPat Potts on

Grieving and mourning are healing journeys. Unlike what most folks may feel is appropriate, grieving takes as long as it takes, and it never leaves us completely, because we don’t want to forget our loved ones. Our faith encourages us to face our grief, work with our grief and then learn how to make it part of our everyday, ordinary lives, which keep moving forward. This encourages us to find or make new meaning in our lives, find new balance, embrace our lives. Yet, we do this while holding onto our memories of our loved ones, and bringing them along with us. Guardian Angels community invites all who are grieving the loss of a loved one to the Feast of All Souls, Wednesday, November 2, 6:30 p.m., where we will remember all who have died, especially within this last year, and where we pray for them.  At this Mass we will remember your loved one with light -  a candle lit; with music - a sung litany of names of these souls; and with recording their names in the Book of Remembrance. If you have a candle for your loved one from last year's service please bring that with you. In this beautiful ritual we cherish the memories we carry with us of our loved ones, and we honor the importance they have in our lives and in the Communion of Saints. Please join us.  **It would help us for people to RSVP that you will attend to honor your specific loved one, so we have enough candles.

And for those wanting some help to face and work through their grief, we will start up another Healing Hearts Grief Support Group on Monday, October 31 at 12:30-2:00 p.m

One participant writes:

This (Healing Hearts) has been a place where you do not feel alone. It is a place where, through our shared belief in God, we work with each other to find some sort of peace in a chaotic situation. I usually don't feel comfortable going to these types of things or opening up. I think part of it was the shared camaraderie of the group, that made it ok. I would encourage anyone who has suffered any type of loss to come and meet with Healing Hearts.  ~ Jo K    (9/2022)

Please give us a try if you are grieving.
