You may have heard about the untimely death last week of actor Chadwick Boseman. If you’re a movie buff, you likely know of his most successful film, Black Panther. I’d heard of it when it came out but superhero stuff not usually being what I watch, never got around to seeing it. (I did this past weekend and would recommend it, by the way.) I had seen another of his films, 42, which is the story of baseball player Jackie Robinson and found myself mesmerized by his portrayal.
What you might not have heard is how much Boseman’s faith led his life. One of his favorite quotes was from the humorist Erma Bombeck, which he apparently had framed in his home:
“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, ‘I used everything You gave me.”
This week, I invite you to ponder that one for a bit. What has God given you that needs using? Might Guardian Angels be a place to share that gift?
