November is National Gratitude Month
We are encouraged to reflect on and express appreciation for the good things in our lives, both big and small. Focus on positive emotions, improve well-being, and strengthen relationships. Here are some thoughts in putting them into practice: Notice, Think, Feel and Do. Raising Grateful Children Project at UNC Chapel Hill
Notice: Become aware of the positive things in your life, big or small. This could be a gift you received, a person who helped you, or an enjoyable experience.
Think: Consider the reasons you have this good thing and the people who played a role in it. If you receive a gift, think about who gave it to you and why.
Feel: Experience the positive emotions that come with the kindness or gift, such as happiness, excitement or love. Connect the external event with the internal feeling.
Do: Express your gratitude though an action. Say “thank you,” write a note, give a hug.
Remember to treat others with respect and appreciation, especially in the way they wish to be treated and is meaningful to them. This is the Platinum Rule.
