Improving Building Security During Mass

Posted by on

Starting next weekend, February 1-2, 2025 we are updating building access.

So, what will YOU see?

  • The door by GA Perks Café (door #2) will be locked ten minutes after Mass starts and people will be directed to      the Main Entrance.
  • The lower level door by the first floor elevator/POH (door #6) will be locked ten minutes after Mass starts and people will  be directed to the Main Entrance.
  • The east door by Best Buy (door #4) will be locked at all times. WHY?
    • The goal is to improve the safety and security of everyone attending Mass.
    • To accomplish this, we need to monitor who is entering and moving about the building.
    • The east door facing Best Buy is difficult to adequately monitor as it allows people entering there to go anywhere in the building without notice which creates a safety and security concern.
    • We realize that this may be inconvenient for some, but door 4 is the least used access point and is in close proximity to two additional access points.
  • Building Monitors will be present to monitor access doors and activity inside building during Masses.

This matter has been studied by the Parish Safety and Security Committee based on recommendations by Catholic Mutual, the Parish insurance carrier, and other experts. The general guideline is to limit access points  and to monitor those points to provide the safest environment possible for all attending Mass.

WANTED: Volunteers to help us improve the Safety and Security of GA.
