Bright Days, Safe Rays
We are finally in the heat of summer and as Minnesotans we can’t wait to feel the warmth of the sun on our skin. While the sun is a welcome companion, it can cause damage to our skin that can have lasting effects.
Did you know that skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States?
According to the American Cancer Society, the most important way to lower your risk of skin cancer is to protect yourself from exposure to UV rays.
Practice sun safety when you are outdoors.
- Seek shade: Simply staying in the shade is one of the best ways to limit your UV exposure
- Slip on sun protective clothing
- Slop on sunscreen- broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher and reapply often
- Slap on a broad brimmed hat
- Wrap on UV -blocking sunglasses to protect the eyes and sensitive skin around them
Enjoy every ray, the safe way!
