Guardian Angels Begins Lease Process with Chesterton Academy
Last fall, Chesterton Academy of the St. Croix Valley (CASCV) began a conversation with Guardian Angels Catholic Church to explore the possibility of relocating from their leased space in Stillwater, Minnesota, to the school wing on our campus.
CASCV began as a grass-roots effort by parents and originally operated as a satellite campus of Chesterton Academy of the Twin Cities. In 2020, it became an independent school in Stillwater. The academy offers a rigorous, integrated high school curriculum rooted in the classical tradition and the teachings of the Catholic faith. In October 2025, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis officially recognized CASCV as a Catholic school.
Guardian Angels has prayerfully and thoroughly evaluated the possibility of entering into a working relationship with CASCV to lease the school wing for use as a high school. This discernment has also given the parish an opportunity to reflect on how we use our facilities and how we might steward our spaces more intentionally.
Although the school wing is currently used for staff meetings, small groups, and ministry gatherings, the parish determined that a business relationship with CASCV would bring significant benefits, including:
- Establishing Guardian Angels as the site of a Catholic high school
- Creating opportunities for students to contribute their gifts to parish life
- Welcoming a vibrant new presence into our parish home
In late April, the parish signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with CASCV. This LOI is the first step toward a formal lease agreement. Before a lease can be executed, the parish must submit the required documentation and receive canonical approval from the Archdiocese. This approval process is currently underway.
Before CASCV could move into the school wing, Guardian Angels will need to identify and prepare alternative spaces for the parish activities currently held there. This will include evaluating our downstairs areas to determine how they can be reconfigured to better serve parish needs.
