A Simpler Weekly Giving Report
Beginning with the July 11-12 bulletin, you will notice a new format for our weekly giving report. These changes are intended to make our financial reporting simpler, clearer, and easier to understand.
Because of the early deadline for the Fourth of July bulletin, there will not be a financial report in next week's bulletin. The new format will begin the following weekend.
There are two changes you will notice.
First, we will no longer compare each week's collections to a weekly budget goal. Instead, we will report the total amount received each week and provide year-to-date financial updates on a quarterly basis. While the previous format was intended to measure our progress toward our annual budget, it sometimes gave the impression that the parish was falling behind financially when, in reality, a particular week's giving simply fell below the weekly budget target. We believe the new format will present a clearer picture of our parish's weekly stewardship.
Second, gifts made on an annual, semi-annual, quarterly, or monthly basis will now be reported in full during the week they are received. This change more accurately reflects the timing of these gifts and better aligns the bulletin report with our parish financial statements.
These changes were reviewed by the Parish Finance Council and are intended to improve the clarity and transparency of our financial reporting.
