We are excited to share the winners of the GAWC $1,000 scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year: Carly Fleischhacker and Callie Corrigan.
Carly Fleischhacker, daughter of parishioners Kelly and Mike Fleischhacker, just graduated from Woodbury High School. She is going to attend Northwoods Technical College in New Richmond, WI and major in Criminal Justice Studies starting this fall. Carly has been active with the Guardian Angels Youth /Young Adults groups for about five years. During that time she has been involved in Summer Stretch (as both a participant and a mentor), and multiple PUSH Week Mission trips and activities. She has also served at Our Lady of Peace Hospice, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Union Gospel Mission for the Homeless, Wilder Community Center for the Aging, Merrick Community Services Food Shelf, Feed My Starving Children and our own GA Food Shelf Garden.
Callie Corrigan, daughter of parishioner Paul Corrigan, is a student at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN, majoring in Nursing. She is currently working part-time in the healthcare field with a focus on geriatrics. She is very passionate about human dignity, especially as to how it relates to social justice. When she graduates, she hopes to go where she is most needed working as a critical access nurse. She was very active in the GA Youth Council while in high school, and now is involved with the Saints Catholic Club on campus, as well as career-related groups, such as the Student Nurses Association, Pre-Med Club and Biochemistry Club.
Congratulations to you both, we wish you much success in the coming years!
