If you’re reading this, you probably already know that for the past couple of weeks we have been talking about stewardship here at Guardian Angels. Lots of people hear that word and think first of dollars and cents. That’s not wrong; money is a part of it and we couldn’t survive without that. Just as important, though is taking stock of all the gifts God has given and how they can best be offered, nurtured and celebrated for the good of the world.
My work here at the parish means that I am a frequent witness to just how gifted this community is. Scores of parishioners share their talents each week and this parish would not be what it is without that generous service. This weekend you probably picked up a form that lists a whole host of opportunities for you to consider as you take stock of what you can share. (By the way, if you have a gift that’s not listed on that form, let us know!)
Something for us all to remember is this: this parish already has every good gift it needs to live out the mission to which we are called. It’s just that some of those gifts are not yet being put to use. There are lots of reasons for that . . . here are some I have heard:
’m not really good at that.”
“No one needs anyone to do that.”
“You already have people who know how to do that.”
“I don’t have time for that.”
“I’m not great at meeting new people.”
Fair enough. I have thought at least a few of those thoughts at some time or other.
Consider this your invitation to stretch and grow a bit. My contact information is below. You know where to find me if you’d like to talk about what you can share.
