Out of the Shadows
Human trafficking doesn’t just happen in other parts of the world or other parts of the U.S. – it’s happening here and it’s on the rise. Our parish has been supporting Brittany’s Place, our local home for girls who have escaped trafficking. But there’s more to do to get the word out. Did you know that the average age of a young person entering the trafficking system is 12 years old?
Washington County has a newly-formed task force to raise awareness on this cycle of injustice. Please join us here at GA on Thursday, April 12 at 6:30 for Bringing Human Trafficking Out of the Shadows. We will hear from Washington County Attorney Pete Orput and staff at Brittany’s Place. Our special guest will be Angela Van Auken, a survivor of trafficking who will share her story. If you have a young woman 12 years or older in your life, plan to come together. Information is power.
