For Children in Second Grade:  (for Older children, click here)

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Eucharist for Second Graders will be interwoven with the usual Faith Formation Schedule.  It will include peer learning sessions in classrooms, large group sessions with parents and children together, some large group sessions with parents only (to support parents as the primary educators) as well as some home learning sessions.  Parents will need to be aware of the details of the usual Faith Formation Schedule to know which classes and sessions are designed for the preparation for the Sacrment of First Eucharist.  We will celebrate the Sacrament in April 2012.  CLICK HERE to register for 2011-2012.

Preparation at Home and at Church

The preparation process includes both activities at church and a some home study. We expect parents to be fully involved in preparing their children to receive these sacraments. As the bishops of the Second Vatican Council proclaimed, parents are “the first to pass on the faith to their children and to educate them in it,” and they should receive “training, at once many sided and complete” if they are to be “fully effective.”  To support this, we provide a series of parent education sessions as well as parent and child learning experiences.
