Justice Action
Action Alerts. Sowers Leadership Development Team or the Justice and Outreach Commission periodically authorize the distribution of action alerts, that is, information on social justice issues that is consistent with Catholic Social Teachings and supported by our parish Sowers or Justice and Outreach Commission for which some form of action by parishioners is being suggested. The usual source of these action alerts is the Office of Social Justice (http://www.osjspm.org/action_alerts.aspx), the Minnesota Catholic Conference (http://www.mncc.org/) or the National Catholic Social Justice Network (http://www.networklobby.org/).
Action Teams. Advocacy teams created by the Office of Social Justice or by Sowers Leadership Development Team that focus on a specific social justice area. An example at the parish level is the Environmental Action Team. At the Archdiocesan level is Health Care Action Team.
Key Advocates. Key advocates are appointed by the Sowers Leadership Development Team to monitor, advise and educate the Sowers Leadership Team on a particular faith-based social justice issue. We have key advocates for Children (http://www.ccccan.org/), World Hunger (http://www.bread.org/), Environment (www.http://www.nccecojustice.org/), Living Wages and Health Care.
