Updated on: May 17th, 2009Employment Ministry: On the 2nd and 4th Monday (7pm) of each month parishioners help to organize a response to the employment needs of parishioners.

Loaves and Fishes: On the 2nd Sunday of each month parishioners help prepare and serve an evening meal to guests at the Dorothy Day Center. This program began in 1983. There are four loaves and fishes teams. Each team prepares and serves meals three times per year. Our loaves and Fishes Coordinators are Jim and Chris Judge, who can be reached at 731-3305.
Project Home: This program provides an emergency shelter for homeless families at host sites located in churches in the east metro. Guardian Angels provides volunteers to host families at these sites four times per year:
1. January at the Cathedral of St. Paul
2. May at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Selby-Dale neighborhood.
3. August at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Macalester neighborhood.
4. November at Lutheran Church of Peace in Maplewood.
The coordinators for Project Home are Marla Simmet (459-1629) and Sally Krupich (739-7514).
Food Shelf Parish Garden: A one-half acre plot of ground, immediately adjacent to the entrance, is planted and tended by parish volunteers. All produce is donated to area food shelves and social service agencies for distribution to needy families. The garden coordinators are Barb Prokop (458-1629) and Maggie Lindberg (770-2544).
Blood Drive: Guardian Angels sponsors a blood drive through the American Red Cross twice a year - in early August and February. The Blood Drive coordinator is Julie Mathews (241-6207).
Giving Center: The center for donations at the back of church. you can bring the following items any time of year:

~Personal items for homeless
~Clothing for Cabrini and other agencies
~Items for Crafters
~Postage stamps for Veteran’s Home and Hospital
~Pop can tabs for Ronald McDonald Houses
~Computer printer cartridges and ink jet cartridges recycling (fundraiser for youth at Guardian Angels)
~Used Cell Phones for recycling (fundraiser for youth at Guardian Angels)

Holiday Programs: Guardian Angels has two gift programs at Christmas:
1.Sponsor a Family. Families, groups or companies can sponsor a needy family for Christmas. They provide a $25-30 gift for each family member and $25-20 per person for a gift certificate to purchase food for a Christmas dinner. Pam Moris is the coordinator for Sponsor a Family. 2.Angel Gifts. Parishioners or families can purchase gifts for needy children at Christmas time. Gifts are provided to Saint Paul Area Council of Churches (For inner city African-American, Indian and other needy children), Catholic Charities (Family Service Center families), Tubman Family Alliance (Hill Home) and Christian Cupboard. A list of suggested gifts for each age range is provided. Mary Shevik is the coordinator for Angel Gifts. She can be reached at 779-8370.
Prayer Quilt Ministry. Makes prayer quilts for parishioners with health or related problems. The Prayer Quilt coordinator is Argene Whalen. She can be reached at 436-5512.
Honor our Military Ministry. Provides information on soldiers in the military so that parishioners can pray for and honor them. Connie Kirk is the Coordinator. She can be reached at 491-3853.
