Justice Education
Updated on: September 2nd, 2009JustFaith is a year-long program in Catholic social teachings and traditions that empowers and engages parishioners in the social ministry of the Church. It begins in September and ends in May. Over year you learn about poverty, racism, environmental protection, speakers, simple living, war and peace and more. It includes book discussions, videos, retreats, prayer and immersion activities.
Engaging Spirituality is a six month program in developing spiritual practices in your life. It includes receiving weekly “bearings letters” from spiritual leaders throughout the world that describe their struggles, practices and challenges. Like JustFaith, it includes book discussions, speakers, videos, retreats, prayer and immersion activities.
JustMatters is an eight session program for parishioners wanting to learn more about global climate change, global warming and caring for God’s creation. This is an non-partisan approach that incorporates the position of the Catholic Church on global climate change. This program works closely with the Environmental Action Team.
JustSkills is advanced program in JustFaith / Engaging Spirituality, intended for JustFaith Graduates, to enable their justice and outreach activities.
Justice Walking is a youth version of JustFaith. It is intended for confirmation and above youth. For more information contact Heidi Tousignant at 789-3167.
Office of Social Justice is an office of Catholic Charities that focuses on providing justice training, action alerts, staffing action teams, and providing support for local parishes on social justice and Catholic social teachings and traditions. http://www.osjspm.org.
Joint Religious Legislative Commission is an ecumenical legislative lobbying organization that assists congregations in working with area legislators on justice issues from a faith perspective. http://www.jrlc.org.
Sowers Quarterly Forums Sare Forums organized by the parish Sowers Leadership Team to address critical Social issues of interest to our parish.
