On 02/06 the Parish Planning Workshop will be held in POH, as will Session 1 of Leadership Training.
Session 2 of the Leadership training will be held on March 6th.
GA will be hosting the Archdiocesan Retreat on 02/12. There will be about 120 employees from throughout the Archdiocese in attendance and
Archbishop Nienstedt will be saying a noon Mass.
And on 02/24 Archdiocesan Employment Law Day will be held at GA. There will be 219 Parishes represented at this event.
Three Endowment Funds have now been started at GA. The funds are set up for specific areas of the parish;
Endowment Update:
Art Hoff Fund for Continuing Education which currently has a $6,000 balance.
Cemetery Fund which has a $5,000 balance.
Capital Projects Fund which has a $30,000 balance.
These funds have to reach a minimum of $50,000 before any earned income can be directed for use in their respective areas. They will eventually help the Parish in the future as they grow and provide useful income streams.
The Baptismal Font and Altar flooring projects have been completed and 2 new furnaces have been replaced in the Convent.
The conversion to the new software package LOGOS has been implemented. There have been a few glitches but otherwise everything seems to be transitioning smoothly.
Old Business-
Cover letter completed with matching e-mails, addresses and phone numbers for the surveys which are being given to the commissions for contacting those parishioners who have indicated an interest for volunteering. Info is being converted from ACS to LOGOS.
Session 1 of Leadership Training on 02/06 will start at 8 am in the Dining Hall. It will be led by Teri Asiala. After session 1 is completed everyone will be ushered into POH for the Planning Workshop at around 9:30. Craig Johnson will lead session 2 on March 6th.
The Time and Talent Award nominees were reviewed and approved for each quarter of 2010. Nominees’ will be withheld from the minutes at this time.
Stewardship Drive results were both encouraging and disappointing. Over 97% of the pledges for 2009 have been received to date. We were hoping to get 1,200 families pledging this year (which is half of our population) but have only heard from 936. Our pledge goal was $1,400,000 and we have received $1,251,000. We had wonderful response from those who did not pledge in 2009 but we are still short of our goal. We have 2,400 registered families and there are 1,100 who have not pledged anything for the past 5 years. Denny will also follow up with those families who pledged and gave last year but have not done so yet this year,
We reviewed the Stewardship Commission’s Presentation for the Parish Planning meeting and made some minor adjustments to it.
There is some recommended reading for commission members. They deal with defining and developing our strengths as individuals and as a community. They are listed in order of preferred reading and can be purchased on your own or checked out from the library;
Living Your Strengths by Albert Wiseman, Donald O. Cliffton and Curt Liesvold
Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Roth
Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Roth and Barry Conchie ( not sure of spelling).
Other Business-
Continue to reach out for new members to this commission, and/or identify possible candidates.
New Parishioner Dinner- The last one was held in Oct/Nov. We will need to discuss this at the next meeting to determine when to hold the next one.
Also up for discussion next meeting is to have Teri discuss the changes to the Leadership training.
Respectfully submitted by Greg Forsblad
