Report on Council of Ministries: 5:30-7:00 pm. Financial report: positive. Worship Commission renamed “Liturgy” Commission because Worship is about my relationship with God, while Liturgy is not only my relationship with God but also about our relationship with eachother. Guardian Angels Church’s new tagline is “living water for your journey.” GA will be used as a polling place for primary and general election. Peter O’Neill Hall is rented out all but one Saturday through the end of the year. This year’s Parish Pastoral Council’s goals include a focus on marketing ourselves (better communication), being more intergenerational and engaging younger people, strengthening lay leadership and being a leader in the East metro.
Soup Supper Update: We are ready for Friday’s soup supper.
- After event report: [As of 3/7/2010] We had about 25 people attend (including workers from the Men’s club) and ate about 3 of the 8 ordered bags of soup. We cooked 4 bags, so 4 bags are ready to go for this Friday and the left over from last Friday is in the staff lounge. Only one child attended, the rest were adults. Stations went on as usual (no children focussed stations due to lack of children).
- The donations totaled $81.00
- This Friday: March 12, Relay for Life hosts, and the final Soup Supper will be Friday, March 26 with the Gardening Angels hosting.
Discussion continued on Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, led by Nancylee.
- We talked about looking beyond just programs and how well we incorporate Adult Faith Formation into the fabric of parish life.
- Do we encourage adult faith formation? Not really. We offer programs, but we could do a better job of encouraging people.
- Emphasizing the interpersonal relationships will be important.
Next Steps:
- The 1-8th grade committee will look at how we can bring parents into the classroom.
- The Adult Faith Formation Committee will plan and organize focus groups for May through October, in order to make solid recommendations by November and December of 2010, that can be included in the planning process of spring 2011. Nancylee provided a worksheet on lifelong faith formation, that can also be used as a tool for this committee.
