Education Commission
PURPOSE
The Education Commission exists to provide faith formation programs for parishioners, preschool through old age. Four staff members provide direction for 150 volunteer catechists who teach in the programs.
The Commission meets once a month, first Tuesday evening from 7pm-8:30pm August through June. People interested in this ministry are very welcome, contact Heidi Tousignant for more information or ministry position description.
PROGRAMS
•Early Childhood: Ages 3, 4 and 5. Classes are offered during the 9:00AM Mass, October through April.
•Preschool through grade 6: ages 4 through 12. Vacation Bible School.
•Grades 1 to 8: All classes meet for 1 hr. on either Sunday morning at 10:15 or Wednesday night at either 5pm or 6:30pm. Classes meet October through April.
•Grades 1 to 5: Liturgy of the Word. During the 5:00PM, 9:00AM and 11:00AM Masses. December through April.
•Grades 2 and up: Sacrament of First Eucharist. Classes January through May. Group receptions at various weekend liturgies during April and May.
•Grades 5 and up: Sacrament of Reconciliation. Classes September through December.
•Grades 9 and up: Sacrament of Confirmation. Candidates attend four sessions with their sponsors. The can begin at any time and take sessions in any order. Confirmation is celebrated when they finish the preparation.
•Youth Ministry opportunities as promoted throughout the year.
•Adult Formation opportunities as promoted throughout the year.
